From the 60th NCAA® Final Four®

April 6, 2015

Tonight is when March Madness comes to an end as either Wisconsin or Duke will end up on top in the final Championship game. And Rich Clarkson will be there at the corner of the sidelines one last time photographing just as he did the 59 times before at the Final Four. And although, his Final Four seat will be filled next year with another photojournalist his work still continues as he still runs Clarkson Creative. His contributions still find its way in large-scale projects including book publishing, exhibition projects, as well as supporting the creative staff beneath him. In addition, the staff is heavily involved in commercial photography, video production and photography education.

Take a look at some of the pictures below at his journey through the 2015 Indianapolis Final Four where we was honored by the Basketball Writers’ Association (USBWA) for a Lifetime Achievement Award as well as honored at the Final Four games this past Saturday.

Broncos Heartbreak

January 23, 2013

Brett Wilhelm and I had the pleasure of freezing our tails off while photographing the Broncos lose in dramatic and in most Broncos fans opinion infuriating manner to the Baltimore Ravens last week. ESPN The Magazine hired us to cover the game and specifically to focus on the two starting quarterbacks. We both covered the action on the field, but each of us stuck to one side to get features of the qbs during breaks in the action. I thought I was wise to pick the Broncos side due to my confidence that Peyton Manning and the Broncos would wreck havoc on the aging Ravens defense. Turns out my overconfidence and the Broncos may have paralleled each other and Brett ended up with a ton more coverage of the winning qb and thus a much better chance at getting a cover of the magazine. As it turns out, Colin Kaepernick of the 49ers trumped us all and will be the cover. You never know though. It was at least fun to weather the storm and shoot a little playoff football. Here are a couple of our favorites from the game.

A November On the Road with the NCAA

December 13, 2012

Just wrapped up about six weeks of weekend NCAA championship travel and happy to be back in Colorado for a spell. Thought I’d share some of my favorite images from this last month or so at various MWC and NCAA Championships as well as a crack at surfing and a return to bike racing, which, for me, is where photography all began.

2012 Winter X Games Tignes

June 18, 2012

As the the Summer solstice approaches next week, the march towards Winter begins anew, so here’s another hit of snow sports to fend off the rising temperatures. Had the great good fortune to join the EPSN Action Sports team in Tignes, France earlier this year for 2012 Winter X Games Europe. -BW

Championship weekend

December 12, 2011

It’s that time of year again when every weekend hard working athletes compete for an NCAA championship.

And this past weekend, 4 of our photographers were spread out all over the country to cover a few of the them.

San Antonio. Berkeley. Pensacola. Atlanta.

Ranging from water polo to soccer. And Division I to Division III.

Take a look and see what they were up to!

April 21, 2011

As a collective group of 5 photographers covering the 2011 Men’s Final Four in Houston,TX we have nearly every angle and scenario planned out. In the end it’s often exciting to see what each individual on the team walked away with in images. No perspective goes undocumented.

2011 NCAA Skiing Championships

March 30, 2011

Had the great good fortune of once again shooting the 2011 NCAA Skiing Championships earlier this month in Stowe, VT. It’s always one of my favorite weeks of the year, both as a skier, getting to spend the days on the side of the mountain, and as an alum of the University of Colorado, always a strong force at the event and this time taking the team overall in dominant fashion.
